Why do so many women, especially celebrities, feel the need to go BLOND?

Carmen Electra, Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Clarkson, Ashlee Simpson, Pink, Mariah Carey... begin as brownies and turn to Marilyn. If it were natural, I think I'd really like it, but since it's clearly fake, I feel a little hoodwinked.

I've noticed that blond seems to be a requirement at some point in the lives of many everyday women too, and now men! Blond is definitely beautiful, but so is brown and red. And it's evident that the saying "blonds have more fun" is not accurate - you shoulda checked me out in college!

Yet, I grew up thinking that dark hair and light eyes on any person was attractive, but apparently, my fantasy was rare.

But why is it that blond seems to be so in?

If you're blond, I'm not try to offend, it's just that many celebrities are taking your unique characterisitc and buying it! Does that upset you if it's clearly fake?

What's your take?

Good question! I suppose it's because natural blondes are in a minority. However, I wonder if the fake blondes really realize how artificial they look. A lot of people did have naturally blond hair as children, and I think that a few highlights in light brown hair can be very attractive. But a lot of brunettes really spoiled their natural beauty by trying to completely change mother nature.

I'm not upset about the fake look, but it's a non-issue with me. Those of us who are aesthetes realize how ridiculous many of the people who look who try so desperately to be what they're not.

I must laugh at the response of the person who said that he didn't like "natural blondes' personalities!" Can you imagine saying that you didn't like "natural brunettes' personalities?!"

We do love to pen people into little boxes, based on one identifying characteristic, don't we? As you know, all African Americans share the same intelligence, wealth, and personality traits. Same with blondes. And religions. And......

Addition: I'm a heterosexual female, but I hope you don't mind my saying that you're one of those rare individuals who exudes a natural beauty. It's fun to experiment with different hairstyles and clothing, but I hope you don't do anything to change what you were given naturally.

Very good answer. Another thing I read was that blondness reminded of childhood (lots of kids are blond then grow dark) and the obsession with youth. Report It

probably a lot of them buy into the statement: "gentlemen prefer blondes." Everyone's different; love the skin ur in and the hair u wear! What a boring world if everyone looked the same. Report It
